India's pride Sakshi Malik raised India's name in the 2016 Rio Olympics. Sakshi won India's first bronze medal in Rio Olympics. Sakshi Malik was born on 3 September 1992 in Mokhra village, Rohtak district, Haryana. His father's name is Sukhbir Malik, who is a conductor in Delhi Transport Corporation. Sakshi's mother Sudesh Malik works in an Anganwadi. Sakshi had a passion for wrestling since childhood, Sakshi's grandfather Badhlu Ram was also a wrestler, seeing this, there was talk of becoming a wrestler in Sakshi's mind as well. Sakshi started her studies at Vaish Public School in Rohtak, after which she also went to DAV Public School in Rohtak. Sakshi did her college studies at the Maharishi Dayanand University in Rohtak.

Sakshi started wrestling training at the age of 12. His coach was Ishwar Dahiya, with whom Sakshi started practice from the Chhotu Ram Stadium located in Akhara, Rohtak. During training, Sakshi had to face many challenges, here everyone used to say, this game is not for girls. His coach Ishwar Dahiya was also opposed by the people there because he was training Sakshi under his own hands. Even after all this, Sakshi's family members supported her completely, they stood with their daughter.
Sakshi's mother wanted her to become an athlete, according to her, wrestling was a men's sport, which girls could not play. Once she took Sakshi to Chhotu Ram Stadium in the summer, where she wanted Sakshi to do some physical activity, but Sakshi chose wrestling there and started learning its tricks. Initially, her mother was not happy with this decision, but then she agreed to the happiness of her daughter.
Sakshi Malik career history –
Sakshi started training in 12 years and then won by participating in many events in the country. Internationally, Sakshi played the first game of her life in the Junior World Championship in 2010. Here he won the bronze medal in the 58 kg category.
After this, Sakshi got international recognition in 2014, when she won the gold medal in the 60 kg category in the Dave International Wrestling Tournament.
In 2014 itself, Sakshi won the quarter-finals at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, followed by a 3-1 victory over Canada in the semi-finals. Sakshi's final match was against Eminent of Nigeria, which she lost. Here Sakshi got the silver medal.
This was followed by the World Championships match in Tashkent in September 2014. Here Sakshi was out of the quarterfinals itself, but she kept fighting with the front team for 16 rounds.
In 2015, the Asian Championship was held in Doha, in which 5 rounds of 60 kg were held. Here Sakshi won the third round by winning 2 rounds and won the bronze medal.
2016 Rio Olympics
To go to the Rio Olympics, Sakshi had to participate in the World Olympic qualifying tournament in Istanbul in May 2016. Here he opened his way to the Rio Olympics by defeating China's Jahang Lane. Here in the Olympics, he first won the match against Sweden, then won the match against Moldova. After this, Sakshi lost 5-8 in a match with Kyrgyzstan's Aisuluu Tynybekova, and she got the bronze medal. Thus Sakshi became the first female wrestler to win an Olympic medal. Sakshi Malik Award –
Sakshi is currently working in the commercial department in the North Railway zone, after winning the bronze medal in Rio, she got promoted and became a senior officer for a gazetted post.
An amount of 3.5 crores was announced to Sakshi like Indian Railways.
As the state of Haryana, 2.5 crore cash and government jobs have been offered.
25 lakh cash was announced by the Madhya Pradesh government.
Rani Laxmibai Award has been awarded by the Government of Uttar Pradesh.
Apart from this, the award has also been announced by the Indian Olympic Association.
In Rio Olympics, India's girls are speaking of Pancham Jam, apart from Sakshi Malik, Deepa Karmakar has also raised India's name, Deepa has become the first female gymnast who has represented India in the Olympics. Apart from this, India's third girl PV Sindhu has raised India's head higher, Sindhu took her life in the badminton final held on 19 August 2016 but lost to the Spanish player. Sindhu got the silver medal, which is the first silver medal of this Olympics. Even though Sindhu is at number two for the rest of the world, but for all of us Indians, she is at number one.
