How to eat shilajit, what are the benefits?
Shilajit, found especially in high mountain areas, is considered to be a strengthening mineral. Because of its many benefits, Ayurveda calls Shilajit Rasayana. Generally many people know Shilajit as a sexual enhancement drug.
It is said that it was given the name Shilajit because Shila means a mineral that came out of the rock. It contains 40 mineral elements like dibenzo-a-pyrones, proteins. Shilajit is found in Bhirpakha and rocks exposed to direct sunlight.
Shilajit is found in central and western Himalayan districts of Nepal. It is also available in Jumla and Mugu. The heat of the sun melts the metal of the mountain rock to form Shilajit.
Benefits of Shilajit
Shilajit works to prevent rapid aging, increase immunity, purify blood, and increase sexual power. It is considered a panacea for patients with urinary diseases, anemia, Alzheimer's, diabetes, and high blood pressure.
Fulvic acid found in Shilajit acts as an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory. The regular use of Shilajit plays a major role in keeping the skin healthy, from increasing the signs of aging such as improving eyesight and hearing.
Shilajit requires purification before eating
Shilajit has its own way of eating. It is not good to eat it randomly. The collected raw Shilajit must first be purified. For this, it should be kept immersed in cow urine for 10 days and it can be used only after cooking triphala powder. Another method is to dry Shilajit in the heat of the sun. First, it should be dipped in cow urine and then dried in the sun in a big vessel.
The heat of the sun accumulates on the Shilajit dissolved in cow urine. You can collect it and put it in another vessel and dry it in the sun. Shilajit dried in the heat of sun again and again in this way is called Surya Tapi Shilajit. Which is very effective.
Purification of the body to gain strength
It is necessary to purify the body before using any chemical Ayurvedic medicine. Chemicals require external purification and internal purification of the body. Externally, one should steam the body or sit in the sun, remove sweat, cover the body with a blanket, and massage the body with oil. It removes toxins from the body.
In internal purification, fasting is done to remove the substances that the body has not digested. First of all, the doctor decides whether to fast by looking at the person's age, physical and mental condition, the nature of the disease, what time to do it, what season it is, and whether it can be done by drinking some food and water. Young and elderly people can fast without water, while old people can cook barley flour with little grain and add a lot of water and eat barley.
Availability of Shilajit
Purified Shilajit is available in the market in the form of capsules and tablets. You can have milk after taking the capsules. If it is in the form of Ledo, it can be dissolved in milk and eaten. Shilajit is said to be pure and sold unprocessed in many places. Therefore, it should be consumed only on the advice of a doctor.
What age should eat how much?
Two grams of purified shilajit can be mixed with milk in the morning and evening. Depending on the nature of the disease, the amount of Shilajit can be reduced on the advice of the doctor. Shilajit should only be consumed by young and old people, it is not useful for children.
Is there any effect?
Shilajit does not make the body very harmful. If Shilajit is not properly purified, it can have some negative effects.
Digestive system problems like vomiting and diarrhea may occur. Allergies can also be seen. People who are allergic to cow urine should not use Shilajit. It causes health problems. Eating pure Shilajit according to quantity does not have that much negative effect.
But Shilajit should not be taken continuously because it gives strength. This can lead to complications. Shilajit should be stopped immediately in case of excessive heat after taking shilajit as it causes increase in bile. Before using Shilajit, you should consult your doctor.
How do you know if you have a hernia?
If the organs inside the abdomen swell and look like a lump outside, it is called a hernia. Inside the stomach are membranes, skin, fat and muscle. Among them, a hernia occurs after the muscle weakens and a hole occurs. From that hole, the fat inside the stomach comes out of the intestine by swelling, which looks like a lump.
Hernias can appear in many different parts of the body. If you delay the treatment of a seemingly normal hernia, there may be a risk of the intestine itself rotting.
Hernia occurs in the outer and inner part of the abdomen. If the part above the thigh is swollen, it can be seen as an inguinal hernia, the part under the lower abdomen and the upper part of the thigh that appears to be swollen is a femoral hernia, and a hernia in the place where the stitches are inserted after surgery can be seen, which is called an incisional hernia.
Umbilical hernia is the swelling in the nato, paraumbilical hernia is the one around the nato, and epigastric hernia is the swelling on the abdomen. Similarly, a hernia can also occur inside the stomach, which is called an internal hernia.
Cause of hernia
Obesity, heavy weight lifting causes the muscles to become stretched and weak. Because of this, the possibility of hernia is more. The muscles of smokers become weak, if the muscle is cut in the place where the sutures are placed after surgery, it can also cause a hernia. A hernia may be congenital in some. Night should be closed at birth. Congenital diaphragmatic hernia can occur if it is not completely closed.
Apart from that, due to prostate problems in the elderly, they have to force themselves while urinating. There is a possibility of hernia when the pressure inside the stomach increases when you force it. Constipated patients also have hernias because they have to use force to defecate, which weakens the muscles. Asthma patients who cough profusely are also likely to have a hernia. Hernia can occur at any age. However, as the muscles weaken with age, the elderly may be most at risk.
Dr. Surendra Shah
Diet plays an indirect role in having a hernia. People who eat a lot of outside food, eat food with low fiber and eat a lot of food are prone to obesity. Obesity is one of the causes of hernia.
Hernia symptoms
Hernia symptoms depend on its type and location. A lump should be felt in the affected area while doing heavy work or sitting up. If someone has an inguinal hernia, there is a lump on both sides of the pubic bone. If there is a hernia, the pain increases when standing or lifting heavy objects. The lump disappears when you sleep, but at other times the lump is visible when you lie down. Pain may be felt while standing, doing some work, bending or coughing. Sometimes the symptoms of hernia are not understood. At that time, many hernias were not known.
If there is a complicated hernia, the intestine may be wrapped and knotted. Because of this, there is a possibility of pain in the swollen area, nausea and bloating. In the early stages of hernia, the lump may be invisible but painful, which may be difficult to identify.
The patient has pain in the swollen area, the knee swells and swells when doing heavy work, then the doctor should be seen immediately.
Identification and treatment
Most hernias are diagnosed by looking at the symptoms. But if it is difficult to identify, ultrasound can be done. If that is not possible, MRI is done. A hydrocele is also suspected when a hernia extends up to the testicle. You can distinguish what it is by checking.
Treatment of hernia is possible only through surgery and laparoscopic techniques. Treatment services for both these methods are available in Nepal. Laparoscopic technique is the choice of many people as it is a non-invasive method. If the hernia is bulging after surgery and there is a hernia on both sides, the doctor suggests to do the surgery with laparoscopic technique.
Surgery is suitable for people with asthma and heart problems. After treatment, it will be fine again. But if you do heavy work for 6 weeks after surgery, it can happen again in smokers. In people who have hernia due to prostate problem, the hernia should be treated along with its treatment. People with asthma and constipation also reduce the risk of hernia recurrence after surgery.
Similarly, diabetic patients are at higher risk of infection after surgery than normal people. Due to the high amount of diabetes in their blood, it suppresses the immunity. Therefore, surgery should be done only if the diabetes is controlled by using antibiotics.
But the more delayed the treatment of hernia, the more complicated the operation. This increases the possibility of intestinal rupture and fat burning. Due to this, there is a problem like cutting the intestine and reattaching it. If the treatment is delayed, the bowel may rupture and the stool may enter the stomach and cause death.
If you don't smoke, don't get constipated, get timely treatment if you have prostate, don't do heavy work, eat a balanced diet, control if you have asthma, don't exercise more than necessary, you can avoid hernia to some extent.
