Liver transplant

Liver is taken from spouse or relative for transplantation. The patient's own liver is not used. The donor should be completely healthy, age above 18 years and below 55 years. Donor should not have Hepatitis B and C, HIV infection. Similarly, only people who are not addicted to alcohol and drugs and who are mentally healthy are taken for liver transplant. Likewise, no family member or ancestor should have cancer.
How long does it take for the patient to fully recover after the transplant?
The patient can be discharged in 15-20 days after the liver transplant. To be discharged means to be fine. It can be considered cured at this time. But it takes at least three months to fully recover. It also depends on the immune system of the patient. Therefore, after the transplant, the patient is taken for a follow-up test every three months. If there is no problem, it is tested once a year. Many transplanted patients have fully recovered and are leading a normal life.
Precautions to be taken by liver transplant recipients
For at least three months after the transplant or until the wound heals, you should not lift heavy objects, stay away from alcohol and smoking, take medicine prescribed by your doctor, avoid crowded places, eat more easy-to-digest foods that are high in fiber, and have regular health check-ups.
Is it possible to have a second transplant?
Once the liver has been transplanted, the chances of recurrence are very low. Similarly, even if the liver is damaged, it can be re-transplanted.
Liver transplant usually costs between 15 to 20 lakh rupees.

In short-term hepatitis, there is a loss of appetite for a few days and pain in the upper part of the stomach. It gradually improves in two to three weeks. In this, the symptoms appear quickly and the healing is also quick.

Liver can be kept healthy by eating a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables, exercising regularly, controlling obesity, eating less fatty, fried, fried and burnt foods, and drinking enough water.
