Nosebleeds should not be taken lightly
Nosebleeds should not be taken lightly
The number of people coming to the hospital with nosebleeds remains the same every twelve months. 60 percent of people experience nosebleeds in their lifetime.
If the bleeding from the nose is not stopped in a while, the condition can be serious. Because this problem is a sign of a serious problem.
Therefore, instead of guessing how complicated or common this problem is, it is advisable to take the nosebleed to the hospital.
Blood comes from which part of the nose?
Beneath the upper part of the nose is a thin bone called the septum. On the front side of that bone, there are five blood vessels. Besides being sensitive, these veins are covered with a thin membrane. For some reason, if these membranes are torn and the veins are damaged, blood will flow out.
Causes of nosebleeds can range from simple to serious.
Injuries: Injuries to the nose can be minor to major accidents. Like children have a habit of blowing their noses. Bleeding can occur when the nose is pinched. Similarly, blood also flows when there is a hole in the bone when falling or in a road accident.
Even when people of any age group try to blow their horns with force, the veins burst and bleed.
Infections: Colds are more common due to pinworms, allergies. In this case, the nose is also avoided. Trying to forcefully pull or throw the horn can affect the blood vessels and cause bleeding.
In addition, harmful bacteria that have reached the nose through infection may also be affecting the nasal membrane.
Weather change: This problem is more common when the winter season starts from winter to summer and from summer to winter. At such a time, the blood vessels of the nose become thin and the blood comes out.
Insertion of foreign object: While children are playing, grains like wheat, paper, eraser pieces enter their nose and try to remove it by themselves, this problem also happens if there is a wound. If you take tap water with your finger in the village and drink it, it is not known at first if you get lice in your nose, but if you look at the examination, you will find cases where you come to the hospital even with the problem of lice eating blood.
Winter season: In general, in cold weather, if the air entering through the nose makes the membrane inside the nose dry, the nose starts to burn and the inside of the nose starts to itch badly. Due to which the nose starts to bleed.
Summer season: Hot air blows in summer. It also dries up the blood vessels of the nose. When the nose is dry, the cells there can burst.
Apart from these, the nasal bones are bent, the flesh grows inside the nose due to cancer, even when going to a high altitude, the environment changes and the nose cannot bear the blood.
Blood also appears when there is a problem in the nasal passages. The part connected to the nose and throat is called the nasal theranx. In children, if the flesh grows in that part or if there is cancer, it may bleed.
Bleeding can also occur if there is a problem in other parts of the body. For example, heart valve problems, blood thinners, long-term use of pain relievers, high blood pressure and pregnancy can cause nosebleeds.
Blood can come if you have blood cancer, whooping cough, measles, menstruation, liver problems and kidney problems. Sometimes bleeding can happen for no reason.
First aid that can be done at home
Initially, the amount of blood can be detected. If the blood is small, you can try to stop it. For that, you should pinch your nose with your thumb and forefinger, close your nose, open your mouth and sit leaning forward. Take a deep breath and sit for five minutes. If you get a minor injury by doing this, it will heal on its own. If the bleeding does not subside after more than five minutes, you should be taken to the hospital immediately.
Do not turn the head upright after bleeding
There is a false misconception that after nosebleeds, it stops by turning the head upright. If this is done, the blood flowing from the nose can reach the lungs through the trachea. As a result, even breathing becomes difficult.
Treatment
When the bleeding patient reaches the hospital, he is first made to sit comfortably on a chair. For that, the area and cause of bleeding should be found.
Whatever the cause may be, checking the part of the nose where the bleeding is coming from and doing a nose and throat test and blood pressure test will help control it as soon as possible. If the child is bleeding, the blood has come in front of the nose. In the case of an injury, blood flows from the front of the nose.
Similarly, old people often bleed from the back. In such cases, if the blood comes from the front, it is easy to control, but if the blood comes from the back, it is difficult to control. The main thing to do in its treatment is to stop the bleeding. Because excessive blood flow in high blood pressure and if not controlled it can lead to death.
If there is bleeding from the vein, there is a chemical called Katri. It is placed intravenously. If it doesn't work, one meter of gutter will be installed. Then it is kept for 48 hours. Even after that, if there is no blood, it will be kept for another 48 hours. 90% of bleeding is controlled by this method.
In case of bleeding even after doing this, vein surgery should be done. In which the vein may have to be destroyed or tied by endoscopy.
What to do to prevent bleeding from the nose?
- Children should be taught not to put their fingers in their noses, and infants should be given gloves. By doing this, fingers cannot reach the eyes and nose.
- To avoid infection, you should only walk outside wearing a mask.
- Attention should be paid to the color and smell of the child's hair. Any abnormal changes should be shown to the doctor.
- Taking pain medicine at random does not
- Don't try to throw the horn by force.
