Let not wine and meat be the cause of sorrow
Let not wine and meat be the cause of sorrow
A 45-year-old man from Kailali Lamki was running his family's daily expenses with the earnings from auto rickshaws. Last year, he took the same auto rickshaw with his wife and son and went to his in-laws' place to celebrate Dashain. Relatives sat together and ate. He also consumed alcohol. He drove an auto rickshaw himself while returning home in the evening. But due to loss of balance, the auto rickshaw went out of control and collided with the truck coming from the opposite direction. He was brought to the emergency room of Kohlapur Medical College in a critical condition. He had a big injury in his stomach. Finally, he died during the treatment. The happy atmosphere of Dashain suddenly turned into grief. A strong pillar of the family fell.

These are representative examples of the human damage caused by our carelessness during the festival. During the festival, we have been seeing and hearing many such incidents in our society. Our diet is somehow responsible behind these incidents. There are many examples where people's lives are destroyed in a matter of minutes when they drink alcohol to enjoy the festival.
Even if we look at the medical report and traffic police data, it seems that many accidents happen during the festival. And one of the main reasons for this is alcohol consumption.
Two years ago, on the night of Bhai Tika, 60 people who were brought to the emergency room of Nepalgunj Medical College for treatment were scanned in a 24-hour period. 90 percent of them were found to have consumed alcohol.
Due to alcohol consumption, the liver stops working (cirrhosis of liver). Looking at the statistics of big hospitals, the number of liver patients is also seen around Chadbad.
Therefore, if the right way of celebrating the festival is followed in human life and society, it brings social harmony, excitement, enthusiasm and happiness, if not followed, the same festival appears as sadness and fear. Therefore, it is important to keep the mind under control regarding food. Especially long-term patients and heart patients should not indulge in food.
How healthy are the meat and other dishes we eat during Dashain? How clean is the place where the animals are slaughtered and where the meat is stored? What is the amount of fat and salt in food? Let's pay attention to that. So that the same food does not become a cause of sorrow. Consuming a little more meat dishes than before, especially at this time, increases the health risks especially for patients with high blood pressure, diabetes and uric acid.
We keep food for two to four days and reheat it frequently, which increases the possibility of infection in the food we eat, and food poisons our body and the food is like a poison. Because when any food is stored for a long time and heated repeatedly, its nutrients are destroyed, the infection of germs in it also becomes toxic to the normal health cycle of the body. It brings health risks.
The great festival of Vijaya Dashami and Diwali is celebrated by family, friends and relatives gathering together and exchanging pleasantries and sharing harmony and affection with each other. However, in recent times gambling, drinking alcohol, greasy and spicy food are eaten in such a way that the stomach is upset, it causes suffering. Such things affect you personally, as well as make it tragic and terrible for the whole nation along with the home, family and society. So let's celebrate Dashain, the great festival that comes and is celebrated once a year, in a healthy, safe and alcohol-free way. Wishing everyone a great festival of Vijayadashami and the upcoming Diwali, Nepal Sambat and Chhath festivals with good health and longevity.
